Mangaluru: Boats that were anchored on the river bank have caught fire. The incident took place on the banks of Bengre River on the outskirts of the City.
One boat caught fire accidentally, and the said fire spread to other boats next to it. More than 3 anchored boats have veen gutted in fire.
The boats had been anchored for repair as they had experienced technical snag. Fire broke out during repair works, it is learnt.
The boats were transporting goods to Lakshadweep. Loss to the tune of crores of rupees has been estimated.
