Mangaluru: The Vijay Sankalpa Yatra undertaken by the BJP across the State will reach Mangaluru Constituency on March 13 and the event will begin at 10.00 am from Sri Rajarajeshwari Siddhivinayak Temple in Kutharu and conclude at Thokottu Bus Stand Ground.

Assam Chief Minister Himant Biswas Sarma and Former Minister K. S. Eshwarappa, Revenue Minister R. Ashok and several other dignitaries will be present, said BJP Mangaluru Mandala President Chandrahas Pandit House.

He was speaking at a press conference organised at Ullal Press Club in Thokkottu here. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and State President Nalin Kumar Kateel has flagged off the Vijay Sankalpa Yatra in Bengaluru, which has now already touched several districts. The procession accorded a grand welcome by the people of the District at Sampaje on Sunday March 12.

“The yatra, which will reach Mangaluru Assembly Constituency on Monday March 13, will be welcomed by 10,000 activists. A spectacular procession with Vedic chantingd and Chende instruments will be taken out till Thokkottu,” he informed.

Assam Chief Minister Hemant Sharma, BJP District President Sudarshan, Ministers K. H. Eshwarappa, Revenue Minister R. Ashok, District In-Charge Sunil Kumar, MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary and others will take part, he said.

“Since this is a pre-poll programme, the participation of activists is necessary. It has already got unprecedented support through decorations across the field,” he noted.

“BJP is aiming to win all the eight constituencies in the District and in this regard, the yatra will be held in a grand manner to capture the seat in Mangaluru, which it lost last time. BJP has not extended any support to the SDPI candidates from Mangaluru Constituency. There is no need to support the arch-rival SDPI. The SDPI, a communal party, has nothing to do with the BJP. Both the Congress and the SDPI are opponents and politically the BJP does not need anyone’s alms to win. The SDPI – Congress alliance has appointed a Standing Committee in Ullal Municipality. It is here that the mask of the local MLA will fall off,” he said.

BJP District General Secretary Satish Kumpala said the Vijay Sankalpa Yatra is travelling across the State in four teams. It has got overwhelming support from the voters of the State. Atmosphere of BJP has been created in the entire State, he said.

“It is a chariot procession of hard work by a team of State leaders. Its fate has already been decided by the Congress, which will take out a ‘Jandhvani Yatra’ comprising 200 to 300 people. We are working hard with the President of the Mandala.
The Congress – SDPI are two sides of the same coin. The BJP will never go ahead with the SDPI. The voters are clearly aware of the collusion with the Congress. Local MLAs are breaking coconuts here and there as the elections are approaching. The coconuts that were supposed to be broken five years ago are now being broken,” he said.

General Secretary Hemanth Shetty Deralakatte, Mangaluru Constituency Vijaya Sankalpa Yatra Convenor Jitendra Shetty Talapady, Co-Convenor Subramanya Bhat and others were present.
