Mangaluru: “We demand that Kadri police inspector T D Nagaraj should be arrested within three day” said Mangaluru bar association president Chengappa on Saturday August 1 addressing a press meet here in the city.

Bar AccociationHis attack on the inspector has come after an alleged assulat made by the policeman over his colleague Uttam Rai, to which, Chengappa said, “Nagaraj was suspended following the attack however we want him to be arrested.”

Narrating the incident he said that Uttam Rai had gone to the Kadri police station along with his client to discuss a case. Inspector T D Nagaraj reportedly said he would speak to the client alone, to which the Rai raised an objection. However Nagaraj abused him and assaulted him so that he would leave the station, Chengappa added.

Also, a non-bailable case was registered against him in Urwa police station under IPC sections 323, 341, 504, 506, 384, 386, 394, 511 and 34. We have also been assured that the accused police inspector and other police personnel involved in the case would be arrested,” he said.

The FIR filed in Urwa police station also alleges that inspector Nagaraj had demanded Rs 10,000 from Uttam Rai’s client, but the latter told him that his client was poor and unable to pay the sum.

Chengappa also added that the lawyer Uttam Rai has been admitted to a private hospital in the city, but T D Nagaraj has got himself admitted to a hospital and filed a counter case against Uttam Rai under IPC section 353 for obstructing official duty, which is completely a false case, he added.
