Mangaluru: The Bellare Police has arrested six persons in connection with a case registered at Bellare Police Station in connection with the brutal attack on two bedsheet vendors near Kaniyoor by a mob and a murder attempt.
The arrested have been identified as Puneeth, Raju, Prasad, Kishore, Bhavith and Ranjith. Rameezuddin and Rafeeq, residents of Adooru in the taluk, were brutally attacked by a group of men who allegedly barged into house and tried to rape the woman. The miscreants allegedly thrashed both of them continuously for 2 hours and mounted a bike on both of them.
After alleged rape attempt was made by two accused who had come in a car to sell bedsheets. Ports and Inland Transport Minister S. Angara visited the spot on Sunday October 23 and took stock of the situation.
A case of attempt to rape was registered against Rafiq and Rameezuddin on the basis of a complaint lodged at Kadaba Police Station by a woman belonging to a Scheduled Castes from Dolpadi Village, alleging that the two accused, who had come to sell bedsheets, tried to rape her.
Minister S. Angara said the incident was condemnable. In order to cover up the incident of a woman in Dolpadi, the work of creating a wrong impression in the public circles is being carried out by KFD, SDPI and the Congress, which are spreading misinformation that Muslims were assaulted without actually telling the truth. The concerned department and the Government will take strict action against the guilty, he said.
