Mangaluru: The Bunts Nadavara Matru Sangha in the City has expressed anger over the removal of AB Shetty Circle.

Addressing mediapersons on Wednesday June 29 at Bunts Hostel in City President Maladi Ajith Kumar Rai said, “A .B. Shetty, who was born in Bunt Community was a rare visionary and selfless politician. We must always remember his service to the country, the State and the District. In memory of the honourable A. B. Shetty the circle stood as a beautiful landmark for decades now. Recently, in the name of Smart City work, the circle has been eliminated and his name has been erased, he noted.

A. B. Shetty was one of the founders of the Bantara Yane Nadavara Matru Sangha, registered under the Societies Registration Act 114 years ago and had also served as the Treasurer of the association. It is an insult to the entire Bunt Community that the circle and Shetty’s name has been removed. A great personality has been disrespected. It is the responsibility of the association to protect the dignity of our society. Therefore, without testing our patience and doing anything that hurts the society, A. B. Shetty Circle should be immediately erected and signboard of his name also be prominently displayed. It is advisable to implement this right away, he asserted.

“If action is not taken, we have decided to hold protests at the State level and across the country,” he added.
