Mangaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday November 30 condoled the death of renowned Yakshagana artiste Kumble Sundar Rao.
Taking it to Twitter Bommai said that he is saddened to hear about the demise of Kumble Sundar Rao, former President of the Karnataka State Yakshagana and Bayalata Academy and former MLA. May his soul rest in peace. May God give his family the strength to bear this loss.
Rao received the Yakshamangala award from P Dayananda Pai and P Satish Pai Yakshagana Adhyayana Kendra at Mangalore University for the year 2018–2019. Rao is an exponent of the “Thenkuthittu” style of Yakshagana.
According to sources, Rao’s body will be kept at his residence in the city’s Pumpwell for people to pay their respects and his final rites will be held on Tuesday.
