Mangalore: In all 185 hectares of agricultural land, and 12 acres of plantation are damaged. While eight people have died, In-Charge Minister has been negligent and Chief Minister alone has reached the rain affected area to cover the shortcomings of his ministers, said Mangaluru MLA U. T. Khader.
Speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday July 12, he said if one takes a round of Smart City, it is enough to know the reality. Even though the people are worried due to rain, the In-Charge Minister has not visited the affected area, and today the CM is going alone on tour of rain affected areas. At least Rs. 100 Crore compensation should be given to the District, and also the victims’ family should be compensated with all school buildings to be duly repaired, he noted.
Khader said, “In 2021, they had asked for Rs. 841 Crore but only Rs. 500 Crore had been granted. If there has been a loss of seven or eight thousand, the Central Government has not even granted half of it, added.
Stating that the State Government has failed to take precautions even after the rainy season arrived, Khader said that there is a lot of damage along the coast due to rains including that of landslides. Emergency relief works need to be carried out. The In-charge Minister and Port Minister are responsible for the loss in the District. The Minister did not call the meeting but went to see the condition of Battampadi instead. This state of affairs is due to the failure and negligence of the Minister concerned. The Revenue Minister had said that he would give Rs. 1000 in 24 hours, has anyone got it, he questioned
