Mangaluru: Conservation Lab at Canara High School opened

Mangaluru: The newly established ‘Conservation Laboratory’ was inaugurated on Saturday December 10 at Canara High School in the City to supplement the renovation work of the Canara Museum, which was started in the pre-independence era. Manipal Global Education Chairman T. V. Mohandas Pai inaugurated the new laboratory.

Speaking after the inauguration of Laboratory he said “Canara Institute of Education was started even before the freedom struggle. Schools and colleges were started at that time with the intention of creating awareness by educating the people of the country during the freedom struggle. It is commendable that the museum is preserving the steps taken by Canara and the memories of the past in the museum,” he added.

Further he said, “a living history is essential. The country’s precious items should be kept in the museum and students should be made aware of it. He added that students will get inspired by the stories of the birth of Canara School and the steps that have een taken by the institution, he said.

“There should be a happy self-disciplinary environment of teaching and learning in a education institution. The criteria of the educational institution is the level of success of the students in their careers, he opined.

“A higher goal should be pursued along with the dream. One has to keep the curiosity in life and find an answer to the challenge of life,” he suggested.

On this occasion, the Academic Block of Canara Engineering College was inaugurated.

Century Group Chairman and Managing Director Dr. P. Dayananda Pai inaugrated the Academic Block.

Speaking on the occasion, Century Group Chairman and Managing Director Dr. P. Dayananda Pai said that success can be achieved only when one develops a spirit of courage, self-confidence and innovation in life. Today’s success is because of the values of earning along with the life experience learning provided by Canara Educational Institutions which we learnt during our childhood days, he added.

He also announced a donation of Rs. 2 Crore for the sports complex to be constructed in the premises of Canara Engineering College.

ONGC Group of Companies Managing Director and Chairman Rajesh Kumar Srivastava conveyed his best wishes through an online message.

Canara High School Association President D. Vasudeva Kamath presided over the function.

Director of Canara Educational Institutions Prof. Radhakrishna S. Aithal explained the vision of the institute’s educational development plans in line with the new National Education Policy.

Hangyo Ice-cream Managing Director Pradeep G. Pai, Canara High School Association Vice-President Padmanabha Pai, Secretary Ranganath Bhat, Honorary Secretary M. Sudhakar, Mohini D. Pai, Ravindra Pai, Canara College Principal Dr. Ganesh V. Bhat and Members of the Governing Council were present.

Student Welfare Dean Dr. Priya V. Frank hosted the programme.
