Mangaluru: Corruption case, accused imprisoned for 3 years

Mangaluru: The District Additional Sessions Court has ordered imprisonment to land surveyor in corruption allegation.

The Sessions Court Justice B. B. Jakati held the inquiry and passed the order.

It has been learnt that Mahadeva Nayak, who was working as land surveyor in the Puttur Land Survey Department is the imprisoned. A case was filed against Nayak in the Mangaluru Division of Karnataka Lokayukta in 2014 for seeking bribe from a person to survey the land and draw the map of his land at Aryapu Village of Puttur Taluk.

As per the judgement Nayak has been imprisoned to three years and three months period and has been imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000. If the convict fails to pay the fine, he has to undergo three months of additional imprisonment.

Lokayukta Sub Division Assistant Sub Inspector S. Vijayprasad, who was police inspector of Mangaluru in 2014, had submitted chargesheet in the court.

Lokayukta Special Public Prosecutor Ravindra Munnipadi had argued for the prosecution.
