Mangaluru: Court acquits theft accused

registration of case against 2 CPI-M leaders

Mangaluru: Mani alias Thotada Mani, a resident of Thottada Colony in Yadakadu Village of Kerala’s Kannur District has been acquitted by a Court. He was accused of stealing a gold shop at V. T. Road in 1996.

On July 25, 1996, Mani stole a gold shop owned by one S. Purandara Shet at Lakshmi Building on V. T. Road and decamped with Rs. 4,700. He had stolen pieces of gold, corals, beads, etc.

K. T. Shenoy, who was then Sub-Inspector of Mangaluru North Police Station, had arrested the accused along with the staff and filed a charge sheet in the Court.

Justice Bhagwat, who heard the arguments before the CJM’s Second Court, acquitted the accused on October 19.

Advocate Talekana Radhakrishna Shetty argued on behalf of the accused.
