Mangaluru: Only judges are allowed to enter the main gate of the Dakshina Kannada District Court building.
Though the Court building is a structure with the open access to the public, the DK District Magistrate has issued a new rule that the main entrance of the District Court Complex in City will be open only for judges. The ban on the entry of the public, including lawyers has created a lot of resentment among the lawyers’ community.
District Judge Ravindra M. Joshi’s move to restrict the entry of lawyers, who are part of the judiciary, has come under severe criticism. The Bar Association has already demanded that the nameplate be removed immediately. However, there has been no response to the lawyers’ association’s request and a meeting of lawyers has also been called next week to discuss the issue.
It remains to be seen what happens on Monday October 17, the first day of the rule of restriction on the main entrance of the Court Complex.
