Mangaluru: City Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar on Wednesday December 7 gave a briefing regarding the pack of currency notes found at the parking area near Pumpwell bus stand on November 26.
Speaking to mediapersons he said, “A man named Shivaraj had seen a pack of currency notes lying at the parking area near the Pumpwell bus stand. He had taken it and handed it to a person named Tukaram. Later, the relatives of Tukaram handed over Rs. 2.99 lakh to the police. Shivaraj, who had Rs. 49,000 out of the bundle, was also handed over to the police.”
The investigation into how much money was in the pack, who kept it, whether someone had taken money from it, etc. is still ongoing, he added.
In the meanwhile, he has urged people to return any money that has been taken and hand it to the police. On submitting the currency notes, he has guaranteed the people that they won’t be booked.
