Mangaluru: Dasara, police announce traffic curbs

Mangaluru: The City Police have announced traffic curbs and rerouting for the smooth functioning of the Sharada Shobha Yatre on October 6 and the Mangaluru Dasara procession on October 5.

The curbs will be in place from 2.00 pm on October 5 till 6:00 a.m. on October 6, said Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar.

Traffic movement has been prohibited on the main city roads- Kulur Ferry Road (between Car Street and Kottara Chowki) and MG Road (from PVS Junction to Narayana Guru (Lady Hill) Circle). The traffic advisory stated that alternate routes must be used by vehicles.

Alake Bridge, Mannagudda Gurji Junction, Urva Market Junction, Kudroli Narayana Guru College Junction to Barke Junction, Barke Junction to Durga Mahal Junction, Urva Market Junction to Mannagudda Gurji Junction, and Gandhinagar crossroads are among the routes in the zone where parking is prohibited.

There will be traffic restrictions in place from 6.00 pm on October 6 to 6.00 am on October 7 in preparation for the installation of the Sharada idol at Acharya Mutton the premises of Sri Venkataramana Temple in Car Street.

Vehicles are not allowed to enter Car Street. The same goes for parking on the roads where the procession passes.
