Mangaluru: Savithri Sathyavan Trust Founder Dr. Mamata Hegde has said that it is her dream to make Karkala, which is known for truth, loyalty, skills and cottage industries since time immemorial, thus a model Constituency that has preserved heritage and culture to complement modernity in the days to come.

She said “It is my dream to create an atmosphere in Karkala where all of us, irrespective of caste, can live together as Vasudaiva Kutumbakam as mentioned in Vedas. Also it is a garden of peace for all as stated by Rashtrakavi Kuvempu.”

“My aim is to develop basic parameters such as corruption-free Karkala, industrial education, employment, women’s self-sufficiency, Horticulture, Agriculture, conservation, export marketing, irrigation system, roads, and cleanliness.

“Rani Abbakkadevi was a brave woman who fought against the Portuguese. In our Tulunadu, ruled by such a woman, women have to grow in all fields. There are 97,047 women voters in Karkala which is more than men,” she noted.

“Our Karkala Assembly constituency is a constituency with a large number of women voters and since independence, no political party has fielded a woman as its candidate. This is the reason why I want to contest elections from Karkala Assembly constituency which is also my native place. If this one well-intentioned thinking is converted into an opportunity for victory by the honourable voters, I assure you that for the all-round progress of the people of Karkala Constituency, I will work for the development of the Constituency without allowing any corruption. I will strive to set up a system of pre-examination training for educated youth with a public/private partnership to bravely face competitive exams for Government jobs. This will help educated people to find jobs in large numbers in Central and State Government Departments, banks, railways and others,” she said.
