Mangaluru : After two persons were killed in an elephant attack near Naila in Renjiladi Village of Kadaba Taluk on the morning of February 20, the Forest Department which has begun nabbing operation now has stopped the operation elephant leading to resentment among the villagers.

There was a lot of pressure from the villagers to capture the killer wild elephant that killed the two. Abhimanyu, Prashanth, Harsha, Kanjan and Mahendra, who are known for capturing wild elephants from Nagarahole and Dubare camps, were brought and the operation was launched.

In a three-day operation, the Forest Department personnel used a drone to track the movements of the wild elephant and captured it in the forest area near Mandekar on February 23 and shifted it to Nagarahole Mattigodu elephant camp along with two elephants.

The remaining three elephants were resting in the Forest Department premises in Nettana. But on Sunday February 26 night, the three elephants which were in Nettana were also taken away.

The villagers have raised objections to this saying that what if wild elephants reattack them.
