Mangaluru: G Shetty appears at Police Commissioner’s office

Mangaluru: Home Department has entrusted probe into Gunaranjan Shetty murder sketch case to Mangaluru Police, and hence Gunaranjan Shetty appeared for investigation at Mangaluru Commissioner’s Office on Wednesday June 29.

Speaking to mediapersons, Gunaranjan Shetty said that as he had submitted a request to the Home Department as per reliable source. I am into business with many and have been tough with few too. I was asked to come to the Police Commissioner’s Office to provide some information. I have informed the police whatever I know. I am not in a position to say a particular person he behind this. If they think I need protection, they have to decide the same, he noted.

Continuing Shetty said, “I have faith in the State Police, and they are working seriously on the case. The reason why I said a reliable source because I should not be naming anyone. The police will have to investigate those who are involved, he asserted.

Further, he said, “I don’t know why Manvith Rai spoke out about the case. I have no differences with him. He has to tell why he said what he said. I will not ask for police security. It is their decision to take, he said and added that I was called to provide information and I havegiven ten same.

Shetty is a Bengaluru-based businessman and actress Anushka Shetty’s brother.

Meanwhile, speaking to mediapersons, Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar said, “Gunaranjan Shetty had approached the Home Minister alleging threat to his life. So, the ADGP informed us about it. However, there was no specific information in his plea. He did not say who was under threat or why there was a threat. However, he lodged a complaint based on information received through his reliable source. He had requested them to find out who they were and give him protection.

Further, Shashi Kumar informed, “We have summoned him for questioning today to gather more information.”
