Mangaluru: Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has promised to remove the Surathkal toll gate within 15 days.
Speaking to mediapersons here, President of the Dakshina Kannada Truck Owners Association, Sunil D Souza said, “Dr. G. R. Shanmugappa had met with Gadkari on September 9 and urged him to remove the illegal toll gate. Gadkari gave him his word that he will remove the toll plaza within 15 days.”

“We will take part in the Tollgate Virodhi Horata Samithi’s protest on September 13 as well. We will lay siege to the toll plaza if the government breaks its promise,” he added.

A public strike has been announced by the Surathkal toll gate protest committee to be held in front of the toll gate on September 13. It is expected that attendees in the protest will include representatives of several vehicle owners and driver organisations.
