Mangaluru: The Customs officers at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) seized 869 gms of gold worth Rs. 44,33,780 lakh between September 6 and September 10 from one woman and four male passengers.
The gold was seized from passengers hailing from Kasaragod or Mangaluru arriving from Dubai.
According to the airport officials, the gold was smuggled by the passengers using different modes of operandi such as concealment in the form of powder and paste kept in jean pant, underwear, vest (baniyan), shoes and in rectum.
