Mangaluru: The Customs Officers at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) seized 1703 gm of 24-carat gold valued at Rs. 86,09,730 in several cases from Sunday September 25 to Friday September 30.
Gold was seized from five male travellers from Kasaragod, Bhatkal, and Trivandrum who arrived from Dubai and Muscat
The officials informed that different methods were used to smuggle the gold, including concealment in the form of paste or powder mixed with solid gum inside the innerwear (brief and vest) worn by the pax, in the rectum, and the shape of the coloured coil inside the mixer grinder’s motor.
