Mangaluru: Heavy rains, IMD issues red alert to Coast

Mangaluru: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall for the Coastal districts Karnataka and Kasaragod in the coming days.

IMD has issued a red alert for the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, and Kasaragod.

According to the forecast, the Coastal districts can expect heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning.

There is a high likelihood of extremely heavy downpours across Coastal Karnataka, IMD informed. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea during this time as rough seas are expected.

The Udupi District Disaster Management Authority has instructed the department officials to be alert. Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao has ordered District/taluk officials, including the nodal officers and Disaster Management Committee members, to be prepared to deal with any emergencies.
