Mangaluru: Heavy rains caused a compound wall at the Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) college in the Dakshina Kannada district to collapse, causing damage to three cars on Tuesday July 5.
According to sources, the admission process for new students was underway when the incident happened. There have been no casualties reported following the incident.
Commissioner Rajendra K. V. announced holiday for all schools, degree colleges, and Anganwadi Center in the district on July 6.
Out of all the districts in Karnataka, Uttara Kannada has had the most rainfall. Schools and colleges in the district have been closed for a secon day due to an orange alert that has been issued.
