Mangaluru: Illegal transportation of timber, accused held

Mangaluru: Acting on a tip-off that timber was being transported from Mugeradka in Mogru Village during the night, Forest Officials conducted a raid and arrested the accused on Monday January 30.

Acting on a tip-off, Bandaru Sub-Divisional Forest Officers and Staff found a lorry illegally transporting logs of jackfruit, mango and wild species at Mugeradka in Mura Village of Belthangady Taluk in the District at around 2.30 pm on Monday.

A case has been registered under the Forest Protection Act against Abbas of Panemangaluru, Irfan of Mardala, Kadaba, Ashraf, a resident of Andethadka in Ilanthila Village, Krishnappa, Barber from Mura Village and the lorry driver, Ashraf Ambonu, a resident of Bogodi in Bantwal.
