Mangaluru International Airport Expands Summer Flight Offerings for 2024

Airlines operating from Mangaluru International Airport are gearing up to provide an increased number of weekly seats across various sectors during the upcoming summer of 2024. Commencing from March 31, 2024, passengers will have access to 27,670 seats, representing a 2% surge compared to the winter of 2023, where 15 destinations were served. This summer schedule, effective until October 24, 2024, will witness airlines introducing a new domestic route from Tiruchirappalli to Mangaluru, continuing onward to Jeddah on its international route.

As per the approved schedule by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), airlines like Air India, Air India Express, and IndiGo are set to provide connectivity from this coastal city to nine domestic destinations and eight international destinations. Additionally, passengers will have through connectivity to Calicut and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala via Bengaluru.

Domestic destinations with direct flights from Mangaluru include Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, with Tiruchirappalli being the latest addition. Overseas, direct flights will be available to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Muscat, Doha, Kuwait, Bahrain, with Jeddah as the newest connection.

Air India Express, catering to all the mentioned destinations, will introduce a weekly flight to Jeddah from April 3, while also increasing flights to Dammam to four per week from March 12. Both Air India Express and IndiGo will connect to Dubai (18 flights/week), Abu Dhabi, and Dammam (4/week); Muscat (3/week); Doha (2/week); and Bahrain and Jeddah (1/week) respectively.

On the domestic front, IndiGo will operate all its five daily schedules to Bengaluru during the summer season using Airbus aircraft, significantly enhancing seat availability. Similarly, Air India Express will operate two daily flights to Bengaluru. IndiGo will also increase flights to Chennai to two ATRs per day, Mumbai to 5 flights/day, Hyderabad to 2 ATRs/day, Delhi to 1 flight/day, Pune to 3 flights/week, and Tiruchirappalli to 1 flight/week.
