Mangaluru: Kukke Subrahmanya Temple Hitarakshana Vedike President Mahesh Kumar K. S. said that the issue of temples in the State should be discussed and action should be taken.
Speaking to mediapersons, Mahesh said that the State Religious Council has not held a meeting for seven months. The committee has neglected to hold a meeting of the State Religious Council. The last meeting was held last December and there was no meeting after that. A meeting of the State Religious Council should be held once in every month, he observed.
Further, Mahesh said, “It is the duty of the Endowement Minister, who is also the President of the State Religious Council to see that the meeting is held. But the committee is inactive and the problems of many temples, including Kukke, have not been resolved. The committee meeting was not held even though a request was made regarding the puja rituals of Kukke. An appeal was made to the council to worship the deity for three hours in the Kukke but to no avail. No action has been taken against the priests who perform puja in Vaishnava system in Kukke. Despite all these problems, the religious council did not hold the meeting even after the request, he alleged.
