Mangaluru: The KSRTC junction near Bejai, which is an important junction in the City, is still inadequately arranged even though the local administration is emphasising on the development of junctions within the City Corporation limits. There is a constant traffic at this junction and as a result of the problem, the public and motorists are suffering daily.

Here, there is no zebra crossing system for pedestrians to cross the road and in most cases the traffic police are not present. Though the Corporation had earlier allocated funds for the development of this junction, which is just a short distance away from the Mangaluru Corporation Office, the development works are yet to start.

KSRTC, City buses and service buses travel through KSRTC junction. At night, buses travelling long distance stop here. It is alleged that the area where the bus takes turn in this part is unscientific and accidents are occurring due to it frequently.

KSRTC buses coming from different parts of the State cross the same circle and take a difficult turn to the bus stand. The buses coming out of the bus stand also have to struggle to take a left turn on the elevated road. The area is uneven and the structure is such that the road here is narrow and from this junction the road branches out to Kapikad, Nantoor, Lalbagh, and KSRTC. There is no proper signal not pavement here which has created confusion as the vehicle coming from different sides has to take a turn. Despite repeated requests from the locals in this regard, the issue has not been resolved.
