Mangaluru: Lamp seller stabbed to death in Kudroli

Mangaluru: Mayavel Periyasamy (52), a resident of Salem in Tamil Nadu, who had come to the City for diya (lamp) business, was murdered on Monday November 21.

The accused, Hoovina Hadagali Ravi alias Advocate Naik (42), has been arrested by the Port police.

On October 14, Mayavel Pariyasamy and his wife came to the City and sold diyas near Alake Market in Kudroli. The accused had borrowed money from Periyasamy several times. Periyasamy was taken to Kuloor Maidan on the pretext of money laundering and stabbed to death there.

During investigation, it was found that the accused had committed the crime for money, police said.
