Bantwala: After a leopard was found roaming Kunjatkala area near Farangipete of Pudu Village here, Forest Department personnel and local Gram Panchayat representatives visited the place on Sunday September 25 and conducted an inspection.
On Saturday around 11.30 pm, Rafeeque was traveling in a car when he noticed a leopard near the Tenth Mile National Highway near Farangipete. It is said that he went to a nearby hotel to inform about this but when the locals searched at night did not find it.
On the morning of Sunday September 25, the news spread in the area that a leopard was found in the back hill of Kunjatkala Anganwadi near Tenth Mile. It is said that the leopard was spotted in Valachil near Farangipete on the morning of Saturday September 24. On hearing the matter, Gram Panchayat President Ramlan Maripalla, Members Nazir Tenth Mile, Razak Amemar, Former Zilla Panchayat Member Umar Farooque, locals Kamaruddin Karmar, Nizam, Siraj M. H visited the place and searched the hillock behind the Anganwadi and then informed the Forest Department.
Bhaskar, Rekha and Jairam, the Forest Department staff who came to the spot on DRF Jeetesh’s direction, inspected the area where the leopard was said to have been found.
Speaking later, Bhaskar said that footprints of an animal were found at the place but it cannot be said whether it was a leopard. However, the cage will be placed in the appropriate place. The people of the area who were said to have seen a leopard were told to be careful, he added.
