Mangaluru: The State Lokayukta has issued a notice against Mangaluru Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar for not responding to a complaint filed by a Social Activist against Ullal Station House Officer Sandeep G. S. and Sub-Inspector Pradeep. And also for providing the documents sought under the Right to Information (RTI) Act and thus has asked him to furnish the investigation report and related documents by February 14.
The notice was issued on the basis of a complaint filed by Social Activist Mohammed Kabir of Ullal against the Police Commissioner.
Inspector Sandeep and SI Pradeep, officers of Ullal Police Station, got a broker named Hamid to collect money from those who come to the Police Station in cases. Ganja mafia, sand mafia,and hotel owners have been asked for money in everything and have ruined the peace of the people. The two officers have earned crores of rupees after coming to Ullal. The complaints have been lodged to several heads of departments, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and Lokayukta, ACB, ADGP, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, and Police Commissioner through e-mail but there has been no response. Further, he has been threatened for complaining about police corruption and also being questioned about the complaint, it is alleged. There is no ban on ganja sellers in Ullal Police Station limits, it is further alleged.
