Mangaluru: Lorry carrying rice without documents seized

Mangaluru: The Bantwal Rural Police have seized rice worth lakhs of rupees, including a lorry carrying rice without documents, and registered a case.

A case has been registered against the lorry driver Sunil, a resident of Nelamangala in Bengaluru.

A total of 15,000 kg of rice worth Rs. 6 Lakh and a lorry worth around Rs. 7 Lakh were seized from the lorry. The rice was in a total of 300 plastic gunny bags weighing 50 kgs.

The incident came to light on Friday March 31 at Farangipetw under Pudu Gram Panchayat limits in Bantwal Taluk at around 8.00 pm when vehicles were being checked in view of the Model Code of Conduct.

A case has been registered under Section 98 KP Act under SECTION 98 KP Act, NC No. 20/2023 as there was no record of the load of rice inside the lorry while it was being checked.
