Mangaluru: As per the orders of the State Government, the District Administration has decided to alert the performance time of 6 Yakshagana Melas of Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple in a binding manner. Instead of conducting Yakshagana throughout the night, it has been decided to finish it by 11.00 pm.

The Government has already instructed the temples not to use loudspeakers beyond the stipulated decibel after 10.30 pm. In this regard, the management of Yakshagana Melas of Kateel Temple has decided to change the timings of yakshagana performances.

Yakshagana melas are held for 6 months from November to the end of May every year. Yakshagana starts from 10.00 pm and continues till 6.00 am. However, with the limit on loudspeakers and the decrease in the number of audience overnight, time-bound Yakshagana is becoming more prevalent. It has been decided to conduct Yakshagana Seva of Kateel Mela from 5.30 pm to 10.30 pm in the coming days, said Kateel temple’s Governing Body President Kodettur Guttu Sanath Kumar Shetty.
