Mangaluru: MCC to host series of events to mark Har Ghar Tiranga

Mangaluru: On the occasion of the 75th Independence Day, the Government of India has organised ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ (Tricolour in all houses) Campaign.

Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has hereby requested the citizens to hoist the National Flag in their houses from August 13 to August 15 to showcase your patriotism.

MCC will be hosting the following programmes as a part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign. We aim to hoist at least 60,000 flags in MCC limits across all houses, government offices, and other buildings. A meeting of the heads of all associations will be called for and requested to hoist the National Flag in all buildings.

The flags are being made available at a cost of Rs. 22 from August 3. The National Flag can be bought in the following places:

All of Corporation’s zonal and ward offices. All 10 Primary Health Care Centres of Corporation namely Surathkal, Kulai, Kuloor, Shaktinagara, Kadri, Padil, Yekkur, Jeppu, Bunder and Bengre. The flags are also available on main malls namely Bharat Mall, City Centre, and Forum Fiza Mall.

Also Public Works Department Officials and Ward Committee Nodal Officers will visit each house with members of ward to raise awareness about the flag hoisting campaign.

Associations and Apartment Owners have been requested to voluntarily buy and hoist the flag.

Flag will be distributed to all houses through children with the collaboration of educational institutions.

Further, it has been decided that the Corporation Building, prominent circles, Thumbay Water Dam, and other significant areas will be lit up with Saffron, White and Green LED bulbs from August 13 to 15. Corporation Central Office, Lalbagh, Surathkal Zonal Office, Townhall

Marnamikatte Circle, Koti Chennaiah Circle, Nandigudde, Near Circuit House Circle, Bondel Circle, urathkal Circle and
Kadri – Mallikatte Circle too will be lit.

The following programmes will be hosted to celebrate the 75th Year of Independence and also commemorate the sacrifices of freedom fighters.

Rangoli Drawing Competition

The idea of 75 years of Indian Independence on August 11 will be held at Kudmul Ranga Rao Hall.

“Walk of Celebration” will be held on August 12 to pay respects to Indian culture, achievements and magnificent history.

The officers and staff of MCC will walk from Corporation Office to Bramha Shree Narayana Guru Circle, Mannagudde Canara School, Central Office.

Notes of Gratitude to Freedom Fightersbwill be held on August 10. The contribution of freedom fighters will be commemorated in the City Corporation Office by the choir of all MCC staff and pledging to hoist flags in possible buildings.

Selfie with patriotism will be held on August 8. Booths with the said title will be made available to click selfies to raise awareness about the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign, stated MCC Commissioner Akshy Shridhar
