Mangaluru: The Bantwal Police on Wednesday October 20 arrested an accused who had been absconding for 15 years in an attempt to murder case at Manjeshwar’s Bandyodi.
The accused identified as Mohammed Farooq is a resident of Kasargod’s Thuminadu village in Kunjathur.
The court has remanded Farooq into judicial detention.
Farooq is accused of attempting to murder a person in the year 2007 during the communal riots along with his accomplices in 2007. A complaint was filed at the Bantwal Police Station regarding this. Farooq, however, managed to escape.
The Bantwal Police arrested Farooq from Bandyodi on October 19, after receiving information from a credible source.
The investigation was carried out by Probationary PSI Dhanraj, Head Constables Ganesh, Rajesh, and Irshad of the Bantwal Police Station.
