Mangaluru: The news that two youth wearing saffron shawls assaulted a Muslim student on his way to a Madrasa had created a lot of panic in Katipalla of Krishnapura, Surathkal in the City outskirts.

This also saw an outrage in the Muslim area as communal hatred was spread on social media over the alleged assault by Hindu youth. However, after a police investigation, it was found that the whole case was fabricated by the boy himself.

A case was registered for alleged assault on 13-year-old boy by miscreants at Surathkal Police Station. Further when the police investigated based on the CCTV footages in the area, they could not find any clue. After this when the boy was questioned from various angles, it was found that the boy himself had cooked up the story of an assault.

The boy had inferiority complex as he was dark and no one noticed him. Even his parents sent him with difficulty to school and also he was not able to perform well in studies. He was sad that he had no friends, and no bicycle due to poverty at home. The investigations have revealed that he had torn his shirt using his pen to make it appear that he had been assaulted. “Some people tried to spread communal hatred and we recorded the statement of the boy in the presence of his parents and doctors,” said Mangaluru Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar.
