Mangaluru: New health card to replace Ayushman Bharat card

Mangaluru: The State Government has stopped issuing Ayushman Bharat cards till now. The Government has given a deadline to the District Health Department to complete the registration of the new (Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Karnataka) card within three months.

The Health Department is planning to speed up the registration of new cards. At present, 1,71,731 lakh out of the target of 17,40,239 new card registrations in Dakshina Kannada District and 2.90 lakh out of the target of 12,66,438 in Udupi District have been registered. Around 26 lakh people are yet to register their cards in the two Districts.

In Dakshina Kannada District, camps are being organised at more than 200 Village One centres and throughout the District. Village One officials in Mangaluru City Corporation limits are registering within their respective jurisdictions with the cooperation of Urban Primary Health Department. In Udupi District, the registration process is going on by Village One and Dharmasthala Sangha.

Dakshina Kannada District has set a deadline of three months for the registration of the new card. As per the target set by the State Government, a total of 17,40,239 people, including 10,99,064 BPL and 6,41,175 APL card holders, have been targeted to be registered in Dakshina Kannada District. In Udupi district, a total of 12,66,438 targets have been set, including 7,94,264 BPL cards and 4,72,174 APL cards. Door-to-door visits are being conducted through ASHA workers to create awareness at the village level for registration of new cards.
