Mangaluru: Police misbehaviour on Tannirbavi beach, class VI student thrashed

Mangaluru: In a shocking incident, the police lathi-charged and misbehaved with youth who had gathered at the Tannirbavi beach in the City. A Class 6 and PUC student were also injured due to lathi-charge, and due to this the locals gheraoed the police.

According to locals, many people were coming to the beach since morning as it was a weekend and hence it was crowded. On the evening of Sunday, the police stopped the boys who were on their way to play cricket there on a bike and lathi-charged them saying that the boys blocked the road, it is alleged.

A class 6 student suffered serious injuries and has been admitted to a hospital. Soon, people got angry with the police and gheraoed them, and the people were angry on three policemen.

A complaint has been lodged with the Police Commissioner through MLA Vedavyas Kamath about the incident.
