Mangaluru: Police seize vehicles carrying illegal sand

Mangaluru: Police raided and seized tippers, lorries for transporting illegal sand.

On Saturday February 25, two lorries carrying around 10 tonnes of sand illegally were seized by Police Officials from Panambur Police Station near the MRPL flyover under Panambur Police Station limits. On Sunday February 26, two lorries carrying around 12 to 15 tonnes of sand illegally were seized by officials of Panambur Police Station on Thannirbhavi Road under Panambur Police Station limits.

On Tuesday February 28, a tipper lorry and about two units of sand and an empty tipper lorry were seized from Adamkudru under Kankanady Police Station limits. On Wednesday March 1, acting on a tip-off that sand was being illegally stored near Somanatha Uliya Temple in Munnur Village under Ullal Police Station limits.

Police Inspectors and Staff of Ullal Police Station conducted a raid and seized around 10 loads of sand and a Hitachi vehicle that had been illegally stored sand. Police said all the four cases have been handed over to the Mines and Geology Department for further action.
