Mangaluru: On allegations of Raksha Bandhan being removed from children’s hands at a private school here in Katipalla, the parents and BJP workers gheraoed school.

It is alleged that the children had come with rakhis on their hands on Thursday August 11 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and that some teachers allegedly removed the rakhi and threw it into the dustbin.

Soon the irked parents arrived at school, and took the headmaster and teachers to the task. BJP Yuva Morcha workers also protested against the school administration. However, Surathkal Police intervened in the wake of argument between parents and teachers. As response the teacher said that they assumed it as friendship band and asked the students to remove it. There will be no insistence on removal of Rakhi for any reason, says school headmaster. Parents and activists urged teachers to tie rakhi to their children’s hands again.
