Mangaluru: The State Government in association with the Union Government would formulate a long term permanent solution for sea erosion in the coastal region, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking to media persons at Ullala on his visit to sea erosion- affected areas on Wednesday July 13, he said that sea erosion has been relentlessly affecting the shoreline of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada over the years. Last year about 800 metres of shoreline was eroded. This year 600 metres of shore land has been eroded. So we need to find a permanent solution for sea erosion, he noted

Assuring effective measures in this regard, Bommai said, “We have decided to install Sea Wave Breaker technology to tackle sea erosion. We will see its effectiveness and decide on the next course of action.”

Chief Minister also took stock of situation at rain-affected areas in Uppinangady, Bantwala, and Sullia in the District.

At Uppinangady he inspected farmlands and other properties affected due to heavy flow of Kumaradhara and Netravati, and at Sullia the houses that were damaged due to earthquake. While at Bantwala he handed over compensation money to families of landslide victims.
