Mangaluru: The Moodbidri Mahila Congress staged a massive protest in front of the Taluk Administration Soudha here on Thursday March 16 against the double-engine Government’s policy of increasing the prices of essential commodities and 40 per cent corruption by MLAs.

Former Minister K. Abhayachandra Jain, while addressing the protest, said Umanath Kotian is one of the most corrupt politicians in Dakshina Kannada District. He went to Muslims and Christians and told them that he was not like any other BJP men who preached caste conflicts. So is his BJP different?, he questioned.

“Within three months of becoming an MLA, he had encroached upon 25 cents of land in an industrial estate on a Government plot in Mulki. He claimed to be a poor MLA from Moodbidri but however turned out to be one of the most corrupt politicians Karnataka has ever seen, he alleged.

“All the development works are carried out by his son-in-law and the MLA’s family members,” he added.

He said that the people of Moodabidri should wake up and remove the corrupt politician from this election.

Mahila Congress Moodbidri Unit President Supriya D. Shetty said that the BJP Government is doing injustice to the poor by imposing GST on items of daily use. Women’s lives have been disrupted due to price rise. Every woman has to raise her voice against the price rise,” she said.
