Mangaluru: Youth damages ATM door, gets 8 months imprisonment

Mangaluru: A 20-year-old youth from Matadakani who was accused of damaging a Canara Bank ATM’s glass door got an eight-month simple imprisonment sentence.

According to sources, the accused Maneesh threw stones at the ATM, breaking its door on July 2020. Haron Akthar, the Barke police’s sub-inspector at the time, had filed a chargesheet.

Maneesh was also fined Rs. 2,000 by the court under Section 2 (A) of the Karnataka Prevention of Damage to Person and Property (KPDPP) Act and Rs. 3,500 under Section 427 of the Indian Penal Code. If the accused does not pay the fine, he will be sentenced to an additional 10 days in jail.
