Udupi : In the backdrop of the recent gang rape of a Kerala origin medical student of Manipal University, Kasargod ML and Parliamentary Committee President P Karunakeran visited Manipal to enquire the health of the victim.
The MP met KMC Hospitals Medical Superintendent Dr Dayananda and sought information on the condition of the victim. He also met Udupi Deputy Commissioner Dr MT Reju and expressed his displeasure over the fact that there was not even a single woman security personnel in Manipal University which had outsourced the security contract. He also made a request that the police department itself shoulder the security responsibility of the students and also depute women police personnel for the purpose.
The Kasargod MP also interacted with the Western Range IGP Pratap Reddy and gathered information on the investigation into the case.
