Mangaluru: Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary has clarified that the District Congress Committee has not taken his opinion while selecting the candidates for the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) election.
Addressing the mediapersons here on Tuesday, November 5, Poojary took DCC President Hareesh Kumar to task for his statement that all the Congress candidates who have been chosen to contest the MCC polls were selected after consulting Janardhan Poojary.
“He never consulted me while finalizing the candidates. He has made such a statement only to appease the Congress workers. I have never asked anybody to take my opinion into consideration while finalizing the names. Then, why is Hareesh Kumar speaking lies,” he questioned demanding an apology from the DCC Chief immediately.
Poojary predicted that the BJP will come to power in the MCC because Congress has sidelined senior leaders. He also said that Congress failed to gain power in the Assembly and the Lok Sabha polls too due to the very same reason.
Calling Siddaramaiah a ‘Shani’ that has caught hold of the Congress, Poojary said that he entered the Congress house only to spell bad luck and to destroy the party. “I would want Congress high command to know this and keep Siddramaiah at bay. He has been damaging the party,” he said.
Congress leaders Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Vijay Kumar Shetty, Karunakar Shetty and Shashiraj Ambat were present.
