Mangaluru: During the Mangalore City Corporation meeting here on October 31, the opposition brought up the matter of Mayor Kavitha Sanil allegedly assaulting her Bejai apartment’s watchman’s wife. Later, they demanded the mayor’s resignation.
Their constant demands for her resignations, led to a fierce exchange of words between the parties. The mayor was not able to conduct the meeting or give a rebuttal due to frequent interruptions from the opposition.
Earlier in the day, the BJP staged a protest at the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC). They accused the administration of being unable to function properly.
On October 27, Mayor Kavitha Sanil was accused of assaulting her apartment watchman’s wife. The following day, at a press meet, the mayor addressed the issue and provided CCTV footage to support her claim that the assault charges were a fabrication and that these were the BJP’s attempt to malign her reputation.
