Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) embraced the spirit of International Women’s Day on Friday, March 8, by hosting a series of engaging activities aimed at women stakeholders. The airport rolled out the red carpet, offering motivational sessions, a nail art camp, distribution of gift hampers, and motivational cards, all centered around this year’s theme – Inspire Inclusion.

The day began with insightful talks by distinguished experts, including mental health expert Rameela Shekar and Dr. Jessy Maria D’Souza, the president-elect of the Mangaluru branch of the Indian Medical Association. Ms. Shekar encouraged women to stay positive, build strong social support systems, maintain a work-life balance, and seek professional help when needed. Dr. D’Souza focused on physical health, social well-being, and spiritual wellness for women.

The celebration continued with a cake-cutting ceremony, where women participants from various airport units joined the experts. Professional nail artists transformed the participants’ nails, creating a visually stunning display. The airport terminal became a hub for showcasing the artistry of nail professionals, offering the same service to women passengers.

In collaboration with a prominent pharmaceutical chain, assorted gift hampers were distributed in the domestic security hold area, adding to the festive atmosphere. Women passengers also received motivational cards to inspire and uplift their spirits.

Mukesh Nankani, Chief Airport Officer, inaugurated the day’s festivities, emphasizing the significant role women play in shaping lives. The event at Mangaluru International Airport stood as a testament to the commitment to celebrating and recognizing women in diverse roles within the aviation community.
