Mangaluru: Safwan (24), kidnapped on October 5 from Chokkabettu 8th block, Surthkal, is suspected to have been murdered by the perpetrators.

In connection with the case, the police have taken two suspects into custody. The suspected accused have been identified as Bombay Faizal and Sahil.

It is suspected that Safwan was murdered on the same day that he was abducted and that his mortal remains were disposed off in the Agumbe Ghats. The police are yet to confirm the arrest.

The police commissioner assured that the inquiry is ongoing and that the case would be closed in a couple of days.

Safwan was abducted on October 5, at around 6 pm by a group of five members, after which some people informed his father about the incident. On the same day, his father filed a complaint with the Surthkal police station. It has been almost 50 days since Safwan was kidnapped.

Demanding the arrest of the accused, DYFI activists staged a protest from Safwan’s residence to the Surthkal Police station.

The police department has formed three teams to crack the case. The police identified the perpetrators as Samshudin, resident of Mukka, Safwan Husain, resident of Surthkal, Faizal alias Toppi Faiza, Shahil of Surthkal, and Sufian of Bellary.
