Mangaluru: Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Assembly and Mangaluru MLA U. T. Khader lashed out at BJP Government with regard to Agnipath, new army recruitment scheme.

Speaking to mediapersons, Khader said that by introducing the recruitment scheme, the Centre is misleading the youth of India. The Agnipath scheme is in fact aimed at depriving them of jobs and education, he alleged.

BJP came to power on the basis of the martyred soldiers, Khader said and alleged that the BJP does not want to give privileges to those who work in the army. Soldiers are the ones who fight against the enemy country with their rifles and cannons at the country’s borders. However, the Indian Government is releasing a cannon gun on the youth who are interested to join the army, he said

Alleging that this is the first time in history that soldiers of the army have been treated as an economic burden, Khader said that the BJP will have to pay a heavy price for treating farmers and soldiers disrespectfully.

Khader said that it was Congress that made pourakarmikas,’ employment permanent. But today the BJP Government is recruiting soldiers on contract basis for the Army. When the BJP came to power, it had stated that two crore jobs will be created in a year. However, at present situation has been created where the work that is in existence will be taken away from people. Like the farmers’ struggle, this too will lead into another kind of struggle, he observed.

Stating that the pros and cons of the scheme have not been discussed with the army chief, Khader said that the recruitment will be done through a private firm. he country’s army is being privatised, he alleged.

Reacting on derogatory remarks on Hindu Gods by Congress IT Cell Secretary Shailaja Amarnath, Khader maintained that Congress will not tolerate abuses on God’s, be it from any religion. The Congress condemns this, he stressed. Congress will not let anyone abuse the Gods, even on a personal capacity. There’s a lot more to do than a discussion in the Clubhouse. District President received information about the same on Sunday June 19. It has been brought to the notice of State leaders, he informed.
