Mangaluru: The plans for electing a new Mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) is already underway, with current Mayor Premananda Shetty’s term coming to an end soon. It was earlier stated that the election for MCC Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be held on Wednesday March 2.

However, now Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Akshy Shridhar in a notification has stated that Regional Commissioner, Mysuru Division due to a reason postponed the elections for selecting Mayor and Deputy Mayor till further notice.

The BJP, which has 44 corporators in the 60-member city corporation, is expected to win the mayoral election this time as well. With the State Assembly elections approaching, there are discussions of having a strong candidate for Mayor. This year, the Mayoral seat is also open to the general category.
