M’luru: Refusal to remove hijab in classroom, 2 colleges send girls home

Mangaluru: Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar on Wednesday February 16 said that as many as 28 students of two City colleges were sent back home after they were not allowed entry into classrooms for wearing Hijab.

Addressing mediapersons here, the Police Commissioner said that only girls who came wearing Hijab and refused to remove it while entering class were sent back home whereas four other colleges allowed them entry into class as they agreed to remove Hijab. The colleges concerned did not allow entry to Hijab-clad girls as per the orders of the High Court. Oy students at Dayanand Pai Degree College and Pompei College went back, he informed.

Kumar said that however no incident of students wearing saffron shawls was reported from any of the colleges.
