Mangaluru: The controversial textbook has not yet reached the children. The book is ready. But then what did the Chief Minister say that he would revise, questioned Dakshina Kannada District Congress President Harish Kumar.

Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday June 25, Harish said, “Which is that organisation, Sevanjali that has invited the controversial Chakrathirtha to Dakshina Kannada District and felicitate him? We will not succumb to this threat. The felicitation ceremony has been cancelled, and let them do it again, the thinkers are not afraid.”

On the occasion, Congress Youth Leader Mithun Rai said, “The BJP has done the job of insulting the Tulu people by dropping Narayana Guru’s tableau and merging of Vijaya Bank into another bank. Now in the unification struggle, the name of Kayyara Kinhanna Rai has been changed to Manjeshwara Govinda Pai. Pai was a linguist, and a national poet but it was Rai who was at the forefront of the struggle. Being a poet, he does not belong to any political party. But he was made by those who made him win as Badiyadka President for 16 years,” Mithun Rai said.

The Tulu people will teach a lesson to those like Chakrathirtha and the BJP, who insult the Tulu people. Insulting Rai and Narayana Guru is condemnable. We demand an apology from Sanghi and BJP for playing with people’s sentiments, Mithun said and added that the Government should fix it immediately. He also warned that if ever Chakrathirtha is felicitated, we will reply in the same way.
