Modern technology is the backbone of quality education: Bharathlal Meena

Mangaluru: In a conference under the banner, “Issues and Concerns of Affiliated Colleges” organised by the College Development Council of Mangalore University, the use of modern technology in present education system was highlighted. State Higher Education Additional Chief Secretary Bharathlal Meena spoke to the gathering of teachers at Mangalore University campus on Friday regarding the same.

Bharathlal mentioned that the use of modern technology will undoubtedly improve the quality of education delivered to the students. “Audio–visual copies of lecturers from elsewhere can have a huge impact on the style of education and help students in coping with their studies even better”, he added.

He further went on to say, “Many lectures from different colleges have been recorded over a period of time by the State Higher Education Department and the recording has helped teachers of other colleges. Teachers have the future of young generation in their reigns. So it is important to keep a tab on their own performance and refer other lecturers’ way of teaching. Teachers are drawing as much salary as IAS officers which leaves the society expecting more from them.”

P Prakash, Additional Secretary of University Grants Commission said the UGC had put a lot of efforts on improving the quality of education. “Methods of education need to be kept upto date since it is a deciding factor on growth of a country. Infrastructural development should be provided by colleges on a regular basis in order to set a good learning environment for students,” Prakash added.

Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University Prof. K Byrappa said, “Teachers, educationalists and college officials play a major role in shaping the style and manner of teaching. In the modern age of technological boom, students must be guided in the right path which inturn will ensure better results.”
